This year, MARL faced the difficult decision of what to do with its biggest annual fundraiser, Yappy Hour, in response to COVID-19. While many events around the world were canceling, the needs of our animals remained. That’s why the Michigan Animal Rescue League decided to host it’s first-ever virtual event! “Yappy Week” took place 100% online this year from June 1-7 and brought in more than $130,000, enough to clear the original budgeted amount for Yappy Hour.
Yappy Week featured many of the things we all love about Yappy Hour, including a silent auction, giveaways, a canine and feline “Guest List”, messages from Team MARL – even a photography tutorial from our very own Yappy Hour Red Carpet photographer, Laurie Puscas! Guest had the option of buying a ticket to receive special benefits, including their pet’s photo on the Guest List, exclusive videos from Team MARL, and a discount at our online retail store, The MARL Shop.
Without the expense of hosting a live event, 100% of sponsorships, ticket purchases and donations directly benefit the animals in our care!
