Customer Service Representative/Animal Care Technician
The Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) has an opening for a full-time Customer Service Representative/Animal Care Technician. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing general information and support to the public on the phone and in person, greeting customers and directing them to appropriate areas, effectively explaining procedures and protocols, processing adoption applications and assisting the office manager with front office tasks.
This role requires a professional and positive attitude and the ability to: uphold the principles and policies of MARL at all times; provide positive customer service to potential adopters, those who may be surrendering an animal and other shelter guests; maintain confidentiality; listen to customers without interruption; keep emotions under control; respond to management direction; and multitask and prioritize, sometimes in a pressure filled environment. Basic computer skills are necessary to perform computer data entry and miscellaneous administrative tasks. Candidates must have a friendly, welcoming disposition and enjoy working with the public, other staff, volunteers and most importantly, dogs and cats. Must be willing to maintain a clean and organized office and lobby area.
Candidates must be comfortable with cats and dogs of all sizes and able to assist with general care and cleaning of animals. This includes cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, and yard areas, observing animals for signs of illness and advising proper staff accordingly, and socializing with animals.
