It’s time for a meaningful alternative to typical host and hostess gifts! As a holiday party host or hostess, request that your guests bring a donation or supplies to benefit homeless animals.

Long time supporter, Becky Werk has started her own holiday tradition to benefit MARL. This is her story – we hope it will inspire you to do the same!

“Our holiday party has been a tradition for nearly twelve years, and seven years ago we decided to mix things up. Our neighbors and other guests always want to bring something to the party. My husband and I go out of state each winter and the last thing we need is more things! In the past, our grandchildren have collected items for MARL in lieu of gifts and we thought, why not give it a try for our holiday party? It has been a hit ever since.”

“Everyone really, really enjoys this tradition. We will see people walking in the neighborhood and they’ll always ask, you’re doing it again this year, right? They honestly look forward to it all year long.”

“When I see the back of my car full of food, toys and other supplies, it always makes me smile. Something as simple as a holiday party can have such a positive impact! This tradition really means a lot to me, and the fact that I can make the winter a little bit warmer for these animals makes my heart incredibly full.”
